From first measure to final fitting
Every sign starts with a site survey and clear measurements. That is where we check wall space, viewing distance, fixing points, access for installation and any issues that could affect the finish, such as uneven brickwork, coastal wind or limited power for illuminated signs. In Durban and the North Coast, those details matter.
Once the site is understood, the artwork is prepared for the correct size and material, then the job moves into production, fitting and final checks. This keeps the process orderly and helps avoid rework when time is tight or access is restricted.
- Site surveys for shopfronts, buildings and vehicle jobs
- Artwork setup sized for the chosen sign type
- Production planning for indoor and outdoor use
- Installation with suitable fixings for the surface and environment
Artwork setup and print preparation
Artwork is not just about colour and layout, it also has to suit the material and the viewing distance. A light box needs different preparation from a Chromadek panel, and window frosting needs clean line work so the final result reads well from inside and outside. We prepare files for large format printing, vinyl cutting and print lamination, with practical attention to spacing, bleed and legibility.
Where a sign will face sun, rain or regular cleaning, the right print finish helps it last longer. For busy roads and retail fronts, we also consider how a sign will look at speed, especially where drivers only get a few seconds to see it.
Fabrication for indoor and outdoor signs
We fabricate a range of sign types for shops, offices, industrial sites and promotional use. That includes light boxes, roll-up banners, Perspex signs, ABS signs, Chromadek panels, window frosting and contra-vision. Each has its place depending on budget, visibility and where the sign must perform.
For example, a retail entrance may need a bright illuminated sign, while a temporary promotion is better suited to a roll-up banner or printed panel. If the sign is going outdoors near the coast, we factor in humidity, wind and regular exposure to salt air.
- Light boxes for day and night visibility
- Chromadek and Perspex signs for durable shopfront use
- ABS signs for shaped lettering and panel work
- Window frosting and contra-vision for privacy and branding
Installation that suits the site
Good fitting is what makes a sign look finished rather than temporary. Our installation work covers shopfronts, vehicles, windows and building exteriors, with attention to alignment, fixing strength and neat edges. A sign can be well printed and still look wrong if it is mounted off level or fixed to the wrong surface.
We also plan around access, trading hours and municipal requirements where needed. In busy areas like Umhlanga, Westville or central Pinetown, installation timing can affect traffic, customer access and safety. On the coast, the fitting method has to suit wind and moisture too, not just the sign face.
Refurbishment, removals and upkeep
Signs do not all need replacing. Some only need refurbishment, removal or a maintenance visit to keep them presentable and working. This is useful where a business has changed details, refreshed its branding or needs damaged panels repaired after weather or wear. For illuminated signs, upkeep can help catch faults early before they become a bigger repair.
Maintenance is also practical after load shedding or electrical interruptions, especially where a sign depends on timers, drivers or internal lighting. A quick check can save time later and keep the site looking professional.
- Sign refurbishments for faded or damaged faces
- Safe sign removals and replacements
- Maintenance visits for ongoing sites
- Repairs after storms, sun damage or general wear
Choosing the right service for your sign
The right service depends on where the sign will go, how long it must last and how it should be seen. Temporary promotions, shopfront branding, fleet markings and privacy film all need a different approach. If you are not sure where to start, we can advise on the most practical option for the site and the budget.
