Send Artwork

Upload your artwork files so our team can check print suitability, sizing and finish before production begins. We work from Briardene, Durban North and support sign projects across eThekwini, Umhlanga, Pinetown and the KZN North Coast.

Send Artwork

What to send with your artwork upload

When you send artwork to BP Signs, include every file needed to understand the job clearly. The cleaner the handover, the quicker we can check if the design is ready for large format printing, vinyl cutting or sign fabrication. If your file is for a shopfront, vehicle or window, tell us the final size and where it will be installed.

Please include the sign type, measurements in metres or millimetres, and any notes about where the sign will be used. For outdoor work in Durban, this matters because sun, coastal humidity and load shedding related delays can all affect material choice and turnaround planning.

  • Final artwork file in the correct format
  • Finished size or board dimensions
  • Installation location, such as a shopfront, window or vehicle
  • Any preferred colours, finishes or mounting notes
  • Contact details so we can confirm details before print

File types that usually work best

We can assess a range of file types, but some are better suited to print than others. For sharp results on Chromadek, Perspex, ABS, roll-up banners and light box graphics, vector artwork is often the safest option. If your file is flattened artwork, we will check whether the resolution is high enough for the size you need.

As a general guide, send the highest quality file you have. If you are not sure whether your artwork is suitable, send it anyway and we will advise what still needs adjusting before production starts.

  • Vector files for logos, line work and cut lettering
  • High resolution image files for printed graphics
  • Outlined or converted text where possible
  • Clear background instructions for transparent or cut vinyl work

How to label your files for faster checks

A tidy file name saves time and reduces confusion, especially when there are multiple panels or repeat items. We handle signage for areas like Durban North, Umhlanga, Pinetown, Ballito, Tongaat, Verulam, Westville and Phoenix, so clear labels help our production team keep each project in order.

Use plain names that explain the job and the version. If there are different sizes or sides, label them separately. That way we can match the artwork to the correct board, window or vehicle panel without back and forth.

  • Use the project name and sign type
  • Add size details if there are multiple versions
  • Mark left, right, front or back where needed
  • Avoid vague names like final, new or latest

What happens after you upload

Once we receive your files, we check the print suitability and look for the practical issues that can affect the finished sign. That includes resolution, colour handling, cut lines, margins and whether the artwork suits the material selected for the job. If the artwork is for window frosting or contra-vision, we also check visibility and privacy needs.

If anything needs fixing, we will tell you what to change before production. For many jobs, a small adjustment now prevents wasted material later. That is especially important on site where sign removal or a return visit means extra labour and disruption.

Artwork checks for Durban conditions

Signs in coastal KwaZulu-Natal must stand up to harsh sun, sea air and rain. A design that looks fine on screen may need changes before it is printed and installed. We often review artwork for colour contrast, minimum line thickness, safe text sizes and whether the finish will hold up on the coast.

For outdoor signs and shopfront installations, we also consider mounting position, wind exposure and whether the surface needs prep before fitting. If the sign is going near traffic, reflective glare and readability at a distance can matter as well.

  • UV and weather exposure
  • Readability from the road or pavement
  • Cutting clearance for vinyl lettering and shapes
  • Substrate choice for indoor or outdoor use

Need help preparing the right file

If you do not have a print ready file, send what you have and we will guide you on the next step. Our team in Briardene includes Bongani Patrick Zulu, Nokuthula Mkhize, Sashen Naidoo, Anele Dlamini, Priya Govender and Lindokuhle Khumalo, so the request can be checked from artwork right through to installation planning.

We handle site surveys, print lamination, sign refurbishment, maintenance visits and removals where needed. If the artwork is for a new shopfront in Umhlanga, a vehicle in Pinetown or a sign upgrade in Ballito, we will confirm what is needed before anything goes to production.

  • Send the file you have, even if it is not final
  • Tell us the size, material and fixing location
  • Include any deadline linked to opening, inspection or handover
  • Wait for feedback before approving print

Questions we get asked

What file format should I upload for my sign artwork?

Send the highest quality file you have. Vector files are best for logos and cut lettering, while high resolution images work for printed signs and banners.

Can you check if my artwork is suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. We check size, resolution, contrast and material suitability for Durban conditions, including sun, rain and coastal humidity.

What if I only have a low resolution logo?

Upload it anyway and let us assess it. We will tell you whether it can be cleaned up or whether a better file is needed before production.
